Pacific Nutritional Foods, Inc. (PNF) was established in October 1995 in Tualatin, Oregon, near Portland,
as a joint venture between Morinaga Nutritional Foods, Inc. (MNF) and Pacific Foods of Oregon, Inc.
Today, PNF is a wholly owned subsidiary of MNF, which is based in Torrance, California. MNF is a subsidiary of Morinaga Milk Industry Co., Ltd. (MMIC), one of Japan’s leading dairy and food companies.
MMIC has decades of experience in long shelf-life processing and packaging technologies, as well as extensive expertise in the manufacture of tofu and soy-based products.
MNF began marketing long shelf-life silken tofu in the United States under the Mori-Nu® brand. Initially, the tofu was imported from Japan. As the U.S. market for tofu grew, MMIC established PNF in Oregon to create a stable domestic supply and support the continued growth of its tofu business in the United States.
Oregon was selected as the location for PNF because of its favorable environment and access to transportation and agricultural resources. The region’s clean water and mild climate, together with its transportation infrastructure, provide a suitable environment for the production and distribution of soy-based products.
Today, PNF manufactures and packages long shelf-life products, including tofu and other soy-based products, for distribution throughout the United States and around the world.
